Half marathon coach
I started running at 34, after my first son Ryan was born. We lived in Florida at the time, so it was easy to run year round. I started with a few 5Ks, and I graduated to my first 1/2 marathon in Palm Beach in December, 2006. After my second son Alex was born in 2008, I was back at it. By the time 2012 came around I had four 1/2 marathons, a lot of 5Ks, and was ready to try for the marathon.
I decided to buy a book and train alone. Bad plan. It culminated with a knee injury from overtraining 2 weeks before the marathon. My goal was to run a marathon before I turned 40, and I had failed.
Fast forward to 2016. We are now living in Wrentham, MA. After what turned out to be a minor health scare, the marathon was back in my head. What if I don't get a chance to do it? I shouldn't wait. Why not try before 45? I searched for a program and found USA Fit Providence. I knew I needed the group setting and more structure, but not something that would be intimidating. USA Fit Providence was it, and I'm happy to say I proudly crossed the finish line in Chicago in 2016 and am now, officially, a marathoner!
My running experience consists of one marathon, six 1/2 marathons and numerous 5Ks.
I couldn't have finished Chicago without the support of my family and USA Fit Providence. I am excited to help others accomplish what they may think is impossible... or at best difficult. It's true that you can do anything you set your mind to.
